RESIDENTIAL / COASTAL STUDY / 01

The edge house.

A quiet interior. An open horizon.

A RESPONSE TO THE SITE

Hold the view.
Shelter the everyday.

The long roofline creates shade and a sense of shelter. Beneath it, the living spaces open towards the water, while the solid back of the house holds the more private rooms. A house can be generous without feeling exposed.

Material

Board-formed concrete, warm timber and stone that carries the light into the interior.

Movement

A simple route from entry to courtyard, then towards the sea. Each threshold changes the pace.

Atmosphere

Low light, deep reveals and places to sit away from the centre of the room.

THE ROOM WITHIN THE ROOM

A place to settle.

The sunken lounge brings the scale down. Books, soft upholstery and the fireplace make a quiet centre, while the horizon remains visible beyond. The architecture frames the life inside it.
